How can we mine unique materials from our most mundane objects? With projections indicating that by 2080, more metal will be found in our households than beneath the Earth's surface, we must shift our perspective on resource extraction. This project challenges the prevailing disposable culture surrounding our everyday possessions by showcasing a collection of furniture crafted entirely from a single washing machine. Household appliances contain an extraordinary variety of materials, such as glass, concrete, rubber, plastic and metal. By extracting the resources from electronic waste, the project reveals to consumers the abundant potential and inherent beauty hidden within the commonplace and addresses excessive consumption and wastefulness in the white goods industry.
