Mei is a typeface that combines elements of Chinese script with the Latin alphabet. It's inspired by my own personal identity as a British-born-Chinese individual, and is also an alternative to ‘chop suey’ fonts. These are fonts that try to emulate Chinese culture but are outdated and stereotypical, so I wanted to make a version suitable for out modern times. The result is a display typeface that is light, with medium stroke contrast and sharp serifs. The distinct personality of this typeface makes it suitable for a variety of design applications and contexts.
