This series is an interpretation of the Cailleach who is awakening today. Relating to today’s culture, this series utilises the vocabulary of fashion photography, recognising this medium as the predominant vessel through which modern lore is made, “fashion is a type of mythology and a style of mythmaking” (Matos, 2013, p.8). This Cailleach I envision is a totally new creature inspired by her regenerative immortal characteristics, she emerges from the landscapes that call her back. She is the personification of the different environments from which she manifested. Each setup has a different tone to reflect different characteristics associated with each land that can illuminate different aspects of the Cailleach. Styling, makeup and casting choices were made to reflect this.
