Love's souvenir

'Love's Souvenir' is my love letter to my Grandad and his home, Ireland. This project reflects on themes of loss and grief surrounding my grandad and his faded memories due to suffering from Dementia for ten years. Using a combination of film and digital photography, I retrace the locations my grandad always longed to reconnect with. Home is where the heart is, and his heart longed to return to Ireland after leaving at fifteen to find work in England. This journey of visiting the places of significance to him is my way of connecting with someone I love but never knew.
