To go alongside my research and development in preparation for graduate show, I produced lots of studies surrounding the body and its environments. Many of these came after introduction to Yoga Nidra, a type of guided meditation focusing attention to body scans and how the self is situated within a room. I combined this awareness of the body with the loose, fluid imagery I had been exploring previously as I delved into motifs of water and biomorphism - thinking of artists such as Henri Matisse and Jean Arp. You can see designs translated from these initial sketches in my final work. I view my studies as maps, they are topographical, blueprints for sculptures and larger pieces. My work becomes cross dimensional as I take features and shapes from my drawings and reimagine them as physical objects.
