Yoked is based on my memories of Soviet people, usually, women who were tasked with being constantly on the lookout for when consumer items such as sausage would suddenly make an appearance in a shop. It is also a metaphor for humankind being yoked in incessant hyper-consumerism. Anecdotally, hammering the steel shopping bags reactivated the very same muscles that had given me injury from carrying the shopping bags as I was growing up. With this work, it became an almost masochistic act of making.
