My work called “Purple Crack”, is a purple mask for a purple polar bear who had been suffering from a skin condition caused by polluted waters which changed the colour of his coat to purple.
My mask is full of conflicting elements to show the suffering of the polar bear with a dramatic shape. I chose purple glass covering the mask. The purple glass not only indicates glamour but also because it is broken which indicates the tragedy of the broken ice from glaciers. The scarlet eye sockets of my mask look like open wounds by mixing red fluff with black beads to show the anger and hopeless.
I hope my work could create a visual impact. I believe it is a good way to improve people ‘s awareness of the dangerous living environment and motivate people to change it.
