Have you ever considered how plastic production negatively affects the earth?
This is my individual project ‘The Plastic Coral’ and this is inspired by ‘The Cry of the Dead Whale’ which is a famous work of art in the Philippines by Biboy Royong. The ironic use of environmentally problematic materials in my artwork was inspired by his work.
In this project, I used entirely plastic materials in my sculpture. I want to express a critique of the the manufacture of plastics that cause global warming and then coral bleaching in this artwork by representing the coral entirely in a plastic material. The aim is to inform audiences about the damage and causes of coral bleaching and to stop the destruction of the environment.
