In my project, I designed a futuristic device for humane insect processing. This idea came from the environmental issues caused by overgrazing, which makes me think more about sustainable protein sources. I used minimalist design, using neutral-colored geometric shapes and adding bright colors to the functional parts to give it a futuristic and functional vibe. The recent law changes in the UK, recognising the emotions of invertebrates got me thinking about how our views on insects might change. So, I looked into current humane slaughter techniques and adapted them for insects, focusing on methods like electric shock, freezing, and gas anesthesia. This design isn’t just about addressing future survival challenges, it’s also about exploring how we can balance functionality with humane treatment when technology advances. I hope it sparks more thoughts on environmental crises, resource scarcity, and future food sources.
