Between 2023 and 2024, China experienced nearly 700 landslides. Research revealed that many victims succumbed to asphyxiation during these events. Recognizing the correlation between frequent landslides and tree planting as a preventive measure, I conceptualized a project addressing the climate crisis with two focal points: humanity and nature. Asphyxiation symbolizes the landslides and the extreme weather they represent, while trees symbolize human beings and our efforts to safeguard the environment and raise awareness. I created a mold of my face using plaster bandages, shattered it, and then used wire to mimic the growth of trees emerging from the mask. This represents the process of growth, suggesting a future where humanity overcomes extreme weather conditions, and serves as a call to action to address the issue now.
