This is Glitter Trap, It’s a decorative sculpture featuring a whale skeleton surrounded by plastic sea creatures. I covered everything with glue mixed with glitter to give it a shiny, attractive appearance. However, my goal was not just to make something “beautiful” but also to send a message about the dangers of plastic glitter. When glitter is exposed to air and water, it can release harmful chemicals that contribute to climate change and harm marine life. I was inspired by the works of Yunchul Kim and Mariko Kusumoto, and I wanted to combine beauty with a serious warning. Through this work, I aim to make people think about the real cost of our desire for beauty and the impact of plastic pollution on the environment, meanwhile, raising awareness about the environmental impact of everyday items like glitter.
