I created a mobile about melting glaciers. My work was inspired by Olafur Eliasson's ice watch, His work values connecting with the audience. I aimed to create pieces that viewer can directly experience. This artwork aims to make complex and distant idea of climate change more understandable and emotionally impactful for the audience.
The mobile is designed to move with small breeze or motion. I used various sizes and shapes of transparent acrylic pieces to represent the stages of melting glaciers, with continuous movement of the mobile symbolizing ongoing nature of climate change. The movement of the mobile acts as a visual reminder of the ongoing climate crisis. It encourages viewers to think about environmental problems we face and consider how they can help solve them.
