This is an illustration painted in salt and watercolour, this piece uses black paper as a background. My aim of this project is to warn people that we need to protect the Earth's environment and protecting our homes and families.

“Secession” is an illustration painted with salt. I think the style of my work is expressionist, emphasis on emotion and subjective experience, using exaggerated forms and colours. I think I'm creating work with my emotions capture, and then using the work to convey ideas.

My feelings were stimulated by this emotional capture of this fear in the face of natural disasters, and I wanted to capture the fear of losing your home and family that people feel when they are in the midst of the devastation of a natural disaster.

I use salt because I feel that salt itself is a natural material from nature, and I like the texture of salt, I feel that salt as a material symbolises nature a split line represents the split brought by the natural disaster earthquake, I used different colours to express different families were destroyed and split by this disaster, I used a lot of colours to create a strong contrast to paint this disaster.
