The project focuses on integrating handwoven Braille, sound and sensory-rich textures into contemporary clothing design, offering an inclusive solution to the specific needs of visually impaired individuals. This intersection of touch, technology, and traditional craftsmanship contributes to the fields of adaptive fashion, inclusive designs and socio-responsible designs, providing a model to expand the accessibility efforts. The project develops handwoven Braille textile using the traditional Tangaliya weaving technique, a unique craft from Surendranagar, Gujarat, India, practiced for over 700 years by the Dangasiya weaving community. Tangaliya weaving creates tactile woven dots by twisting extra weft yarn around multiple warp yarns, producing a bead like texture that is both visible and tangible on both sides of the fabric. Additionally, the project explores integrating touch and sound into textiles, recognizing the critical role sound plays in the lives of visually impaired individuals. Touch is not merely a component of this project—it is the very essence that weaves together every stage of the process, from the initial weaving of the textiles to the creation of the final products. It stands as a testament to the vision of a more inclusive society, where each dot narrates a story of optimism.
