Grotesque Beauty
In my exploration of the tension between attraction and repulsion, my jewellery challenges conventional notions of beauty. Drawing inspiration from trypophobia and the grotesque, I delve into textures and movements that evoke discomfort, such as worms and barnacles, transforming these elements into a new aesthetic. By reinterpreting these unsettling forms with luxurious materials and rich color variations, I subvert traditional ideals of beauty and luxury. The result is a collection that appears opulent from a distance but reveals its provocative, grotesque essence upon closer inspection. Through this juxtaposition, my work questions whether beauty can coexist with the grotesque and invites viewers to reconsider the boundaries of taste and the nature of luxury.
