EP1 Cultural Identity
I began my project by visiting the welcome museum, where I exploded the stories of underrepresented workers and their rights and unfair labour environments. I reallized this deeply resonated with my culture background. However, as I continue my exploration, I decided to ship my focus to my culture identity. Rather than view my culture through a dark lens I chose to celebrate and express it more positively. This led me to research further, where I discovered a creative community called Muslim sisterhood. They work inspired me to cherish elements on my culture, such as clothing and jewelry and traditional designs. I also looked into Pakistani fashion designer Hassan Sheheryar Yasin, his intricate embroidery and embellishment fascinated me. His work influenced my own creative direction, leading me to incorporate rich embellishments into my pieces.
