Past to Future
This project's starting point was exploring the Blackwork and Nebula. I researched Blackwork and found out that it is associated with the Tudor family in the 15th century. Therefore, I focused on Gothic and cathedrals from the 15th century. I focused on the stained glass used in cathedrals and drew inspiration from the shape patterns of the pieces. The dresses of the Tudor family era in the portraits taught me about the stitches and flower shapes of blackwork. For this reason some of the samples have flowers in them. My fashion designs and textile designs are romantic & feminine in style. Furthermore, the three-dimensional flowers made using sequin film make my designs unique. Overall, my work is a feminine style with craft.
