Dusty Land 保定

Baoding is a city in northern China, just 140 kilometers from Beijing. Once stable in size and population despite past marginalization, Baoding had its own rhythm of life. But recent policy shifts have brought rapid change—old residential buildings are being demolished for commercial development. The remaining residents must adapt to a city in transformation, surrounded by dust and construction. In this changing landscape, I saw quiet powerlessness—lives caught in forces beyond their control. Baoding is my hometown. In my memory, there was no dust in this land.
