In the recent increase of publicity surrounding the deaths of queer icons, I dedicate this piece to all the stars who were taken too soon, who were viewed as the future only to end within our present.

The piece is a physical representation of where I found reflections of SOPHIE’s music in my life, including images of self portraits, experimental photography and digital elements, to be presented through this paper medium.

SOPHIE is a trans feminine music producer who was able to create sounds only possible within the imagination. Until she released “Bipp”, in 2013, I almost considered her as the messiah that pop culture has been awaiting for with the arrival of the 21th century sound.

Until the 30th of January 2021, the world became silent as Sophie Xeon, had passed away in a hiking accident while watching the moon in Athens. Like Icarus, SOPHIE flew too close to the moon. But she was immortalised into the sky, as NASA named an asteroid after her in remembrance of her legacy.

She represents an energy that challenges all materialistic values, and sometimes, one’s art can surpass the artist’s lifetime, leaving a stronger impact than our own existence on this earth.
