To search for What I am Losing

“How can you wonder your travels do you no good when you carry yourself around with you?” – Seneca, Letters from a Stoic. Many of us seek escapism. Whether from a circumstance in our life or a way to start again. Travelling is often the way people escape from their lives. In some ways, a pilgrimage. However, Seneca implies that travelling is not the resolution to our problems. So, how can we find ourselves if we travel into something that reflects the reality we are getting away from? Running from reality will eventually make us miss something we wish we could go back to, missing a future we knew we could have had. Ultimately, I find that there will be sorrow no matter what course of life we take. Our course will always fall into a position where we have no guidance. And yet, tangling into places we might feel uncomfortable with, but hope that our lines will latch onto something that will relieve us of our pain.
