The Last Man
Inherent in the meaning of life without narrative, morality, or objective truth. Purpose is an illusion, and existence circles endlessly into nothingness. By staging the narrative from the very beginning of life, symbolised by an egg, the audience's understanding of existence is questioned. The egg is not only a symbol of birth, but simultaneously portrays nothingness that lies within beginnings, where inception already harbours an end. Based on Friedrich Nietzsche's book "Will To Power," it challenges the conditions of imposed systems within a society that contains passive compliance. Faced with the belief of nihilism, where truth and meaning collapse, life is propelled by the ‘Will to Power’, the drive to create meaning in a world without it. Finding a profound discomfort within life stripped away of explanation, the last man is there in acceptance of what is. Following the last man whom is no hero, not superior, but aware. Accepting the emptiness not with hope, but with clarity. A figure who no longer seeks to measure life by meaning, but lives within the void itself.
