Grounded Foreigner
This project focused on the use of materiality to represent cultural heritage and personal connection to location and craft. Using Oxford wild clay I designed and made a series of ceramic vessels that reflected my South Asian roots and my connection to the UK. The final outcome resulted in several vessels that were based of the forms and functions of the water storing Matka and decorative Surahi. Designed to use the porosity of the clay to the advantage of the user cooling down the water stored inside.
