House, Breathing (2023)

House, Breathing (2023) Kinetic sculpture, wood, PVC, cotton, repurposed computer fans, Arduino, video 1’24”, 28x26x31 cm This kinetic sculpture marks the beginning of my exploration into the house as a living, feeling entity, an architectural metaphor for inner life. Originally developed while adapting to a new environment in London, the work captures physical negotiations of care, transition, and identity. Constructed from soft and hard materials fabric, wood, and repurposed tech, the house gently "breathes" via embedded computer fan controlled by an Arduino, transforming a static form into something animate. The rhythmic movement of the object echoes the presence of a sleeping child and alludes to the fragility of boundaries between safety and discomfort. This work initiated a recurring motif in my practice, where the house becomes a site for exploring maternal identity and migration.
