OurObjects is a research-led project exploring the emotional and cultural significance of personal belongings through the lens of material culture. Using chosen methodologies, including oral histories, ethnography, and visual analysis, the project investigates how objects carry meaning, memory, and identity across time and generations. Informed by attachment theory, the work reflects on how our relationships with things mirror our relationships with people, revealing layers of care, loss, pride, and belonging. Through photography and text, OurObjects documents heirlooms and everyday items as vessels of solidarity and cultural pride, challenging the notion that value lies solely in monetary worth.
