Growing up with two older brothers, I felt most powerful in their clothes—functional garments like sportswear, uniforms, and tailoring, rarely seen in womenswear. Wearing them, I subverted menswear codes on my own body. In my practice, I aim to empower women through a femininity where function extends, not opposes, feminine design. Shaped by my Dutch German and Chinese Indonesian roots, I offer a feminist, intersectional re-reading of fashion history through material-led design. Function appears in contemporary techniques and active garments that embrace ambiguity, contradiction, and satire—challenging binary gender aesthetics and fostering independence and agency through design.
