For this project, my chosen stitch was Chinese silk embroidery, which led me to look into chinoiserie patterns and vases. Florals were a common motif in this project due to their relation to China and chinoiserie, specifically the peony, in which I explored a range of different techniques such as appliqué, beading, silk shading and free-hand machine embroidery. For my colour palette, I chose the trend 'pulsepoint', which consists of a lot of vibrant, warm-toned colours with some darker tones. The main colours in my project were dark blue, bright pink and yellow, with hints of purple and gold.
