StitchWave

This project explores the balance between movement and stillness. Inspired by Sashiko, Peter stepping into the waves, the ballerina’s fragile strength, and Salomon moving across terrain, I examine how fluidity and steadfastness can coexist. Through texture, structure, and rhythm, I reflect on resilience being anchored, yet free. Materially, I explored padded layering, stitched reinforcement, and intentional cut-outs to reveal tension between exposure and protection. Hand and machine embroidery create controlled repetition, echoing repair, endurance, and quiet strength.
