I am a Fine Arts Chinese student from Central Saint Martins. As my undergraduate studies are based on craft, I enjoy studying and working with materials, and this is reflected in this project. The main theme of the project "The Long Fade" is the plight of animals caused by the melting of the glaciers. I simulated this process, in which the paint symbolizing animals sinks with the melting ice until it melts into the water, leaving a fossilized mark on the paper. During my research, I realized the irreversible effects of the climate crisis and the insignificance of humans in the face of nature. So if I had the opportunity to develop the project further, I would edit a video to help express it, and for the exhibition, I could design a small pool of flat ice as an interactive installation, encouraging the audience to randomly add paint and observe the changes.
